In 2009, the MTC-ACF won the prestigeous "Silver Ladle" for the most creative soup In 2010 We did a Fabulous Soup, But a Back-to-Back Win was not in the Cards.

This year, the big tasting and cook-off event was 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at LP Field, Club Level West. Parking was free, a good thing since more than 1,500 people came.

Cost per family was $40. Individual entry was $20. Taste the soup and cast a vote for your favorite.

Our Kids provides expert medical and crisis counseling services for children when there are allegations or concerns of child sexual abuse. They also work to increase community awareness, participate in research and offer education and training about child maltreatment.

Executive director Sue Fort White said that money allows clinical staff to be on call 24/7.  “This issue affects children all over Middle Tennessee,’’ she said. “Being a part of Soup Sunday is a wonderful way to support the help, hope and healing for these children and families.”

The MTC-ACF prepared 10 gallons of Greens Gumbo with Fried Oyster and we had none left. Folks could buy quarts of leftover soup at the end, we sold 2 quarts before we were drained dry.
Catherine Harp of the NSCC helped our efforts tremendously. She helped Gary Rawson at Vanderbilt prepare the soup. She transported it to LP Field and she stayed for 3 hours serving soup with us. Much thanks to Gary Rawson and Vanderbilt for producing the soup and chipping in. Thanks to Mark Rubin, Nancy Campbell, Anna Hicks and Catherine Harp.

Our donation of a Sunday Brunch for 10 people as an auction item was successful bid up and purchased for $800.00
