The Chapter meeting was called to order at 6:15 pm with a Prayer led by Chef Leroy Parker and the Pledge of Allegience and the reading of the Culinarians Code by Chef Rick Kahre.

Minutes - MIDDLE TN CHAPTER ACF -- Chapter Meeting March 17th, 2008

At 6:10 p.m. Our General Meeting was called to order by President Gary Rawson. Our Host was Tom Loftis and the students of Nashville State Community College. Leroy Parker gave the invocation and Vice President Rick Kahre led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and read the Culinary Code.
Treasurers Report for January, February and Gala was given by Chef Anna Hicks. They were approved as read.
Minuets from January 08, were read by Cathy Hoormann – they were approved as read.
Please note that both the Minuets and Treasurer Reports are on file with Chapter Secretary. Any member in good standing may request to review these documents at anytime.

President Rawson advised us of the following announcements:
He introduced Chef Michael Osborne as the Chef of the Year
Chef Brenda Lewis, who was not able to attend the Chef Gala was given her award for her participation in Education for her Southeast Regional work.
Student Culinarian Lisa Ramsey was introduced. The Art Institute team received 1 st place in the Knowledge Bowl at SER and with go on to compete in the Nationals in Las Vegas.
Gary then opened the floor for nominations of the new officers. He read through the list of qualifications. (see attached list) This must be read before each nomination session. Nominations are open until the close of the May meeting. Elections will be at the June 08 meeting from 6-7 p.m. The nominating/election committee is Gary Rawson, Elaine Taubin, Elaine Parker.

When you give a nomination you must stand and give your name.

Gary Rawson then introduced our food guest for the evening. Chef Owner Mehrdad Alviri. He owns Hot Kabobs Restaurant on White Bridge Road. Mehrdad came from Iran and has been in Nashville since 1981. He explained many of the spices used in Persian dishes. He wanted to thank Tom Loftis and the students for the enthusiasm and help in preparing the dishes for this evening.

We then did our Raffle. Please note we raised $105 this evening.

Robert Siegel then went into greater depth on the dishes that we would be sampling and we were adjourned for tasting and one on one question time with Mehrdad.
Our meeting was adjourned at 7:10 .
