March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction

The Signature Chefs Auction showcases culinary talents of the area’s best chefs while at the same time helping the March of Dimes save tiny, innocent babies who have to fight just to survive. Every year, thousands of babies are born weighing less than one pound, so small they fit in the palm of your hand.

For more than 60 years, March of Dimes has been leading the fight against birth defects and infant mortality. Events like Signature Chefs allows the March of Dimes to have a significant impact in Nashville and surrounding communities by funding research and programs that are working to give every child a healthy start in life.

This year, volunteers from the Culinary School at Nashville State Community College under the direction of Rick Martinez, took the reins for the Middle Tennessee Chapter. The unfortunate case this year was that we had a Chapter Meeting on the same Monday that the Signature Chefs was being held. The great solution was for these fine students jumped in and helped.

Our mise en place included prepping over I,000 pieces of Sweet Dates stuffed with crunchy Water Chestnuts and wrapped in thick slice Smokey Bacon. We macerated the "Jamaican Rumaki "in brown sugar and Jack Daniels. Flambé on site. Tasty and successful.

The following students proudly represented our Middle Tennessee ACF Chef Chapter.

Dorcia Adams, Ashley Jones, Angie Mulder, Mark Spencer, Tim Coggins, Jessica Adams,

The 2006 Signature Chefs deserve a generous and much applauded thank you for the creative artistry savored on that wonderful Monday night.
