Monday Aug. 28th 2006  1:30 pm Shotgun Start
Vanderbilt Legends Club

Cathy and Anna handled the registration and raffle ticket sales. Participants started to trickle into the pavillion starting at about 12 noon, by 12:30 the trickle had become a flood and before you knew it , everyone was there.

As the crowd assembled, they were treated to a box lunch compliments of PFG Lester and J & M Corporate Catering.

The weather looked great, but you could tell there were some gray clouds off in the distance. Under a smaller tent just off the main pavillion, Links Worldwide Tournament Services set up a sports oriented silent auction booth with autographed sports memorabilia. There were great photos, tickets and stuff signed by Tiger Woods, Vijai Singh, Phil Mickelson and lots of others. Its worth remembering come the holidays and you need a gift for your favorite sports enthusiast.

The staff at Legends started lining up golf carts, while we placed goodie bags on the seats. The material in the bags came from lots of different places, and we thank US Foodservice for the bags.

Tee off started a bit early, like about 1:15 pm and the course was in great shape. The temperature was warm, but a breeze made the summer day just about right.

There was a few grey clouds hanging around, but they looked to be off in the distance.

Sure enough, just like last year, the clouds blew in, the sky turned dark, and the klaxon sounded to get off the course.

Those clouds dumped quite a load of rain, wind, lightning and thunder down on our heads. The storm lasted for about half an hour before the bell rung to allow the tournament to resume.

While the final holes were being played, Chef Dallas Parrish fired up the grill in preparation for the steaks.

The guys prepared a fine steak, salad, baked potato dinner and Purity Dairy helped finish the night out with Ice Cream Sandwiches.

All in all, the tournament raised about $2000.00 for the Chapters operating expenses. Thanks to you all.

While everyone else was off doing their thing, Chef Dave Lowrance enjoyed the really fine things in life. A comfortable chair under the awning with a good cigar on a late summer afternoon. mmm ... where is a cold beer?

See Ya next year!!
