April 17th Chapter Meeting: Second Harvest

The Meeting opened at 6:07 pm with the V-President Rick Kahre leading the Chapter with the Culinarians Code. The Chapter Chaplin, Leroy Parker, led us in the opening prayer, then President Gary Rawson lead the the Pledge of Allegience to start the meeting.

The Chapter took a break to sample some appetizers prepared by Rick Kahre and to use a few minutes to network and greet new and perspective members.

At 6:35 the meeting resumed and minutes for the March 2006 Chapter meeting were read by Cathy Hoormann and approved as read.

Anna Lia Hicks read the financial reports and they were approved.

Announcements were made regarding Chef Rick Kahre appearing on Talk of the Town on May 5th to help Teresa Bills promote the Music City Health Fair.

Charlie Lyons announced that Heldmans Broakerage was interested in re-energizing their relationship with the MTC-ACF.

James Roberts came to announce the 16th annual Incredible Edible Chocolate Festival to benefit Outlook Nashville. It is happening at the Factory in Franklin on Sunday April 30th form 1 to 5 pm.

Mark Rubin of Second Harvest (our host) talked about the 4th Annual Taste of Music City, Sat. June 24th from 5pm to 9pm on the Gateway Bridge downtown Nashville. Anyone interested in participating should call Kelly Bowman 664-2442. Proceeds for this event benefit 2nd Harvest.

Willie Jemison talked about our April 29th Yard Sale, to be held at the parking lot of Centerstone. Willie requests that the membership collect all materials for the sale. Call him and he will come get anything you have to donate. He is especially interested in cookbooks.  Note was made that the Music City Marathon would be held at the same time as our garage sale and would close off Jefferson St during the sale. DETAILS

Gary re- opened the floor for nominations for Chapter Officers through May 15th, with the election on June 19th. The induction of new Officers will be on Sept. 18th at the FoodSales meeting. Nominations were:

For President: Incumbant Gary Rawson; ( Rick Kahre withdrew his name so as to be able to be VP)
For Vice President: Incumbant Rick Kahre; and Brenda Lewis
For Secretary: Incumbant Cathy Hoormann
Treasurer: Incumbant Anna Hicks
Seargent of Arms: Incumbant Dave Lowrance; Nancy Campbell; (Darrell Breaux withdrew his name for consideration, opting instead to take the Vice Chair to Dave Lowrance.)

Teresa Bills of Music City People made a pitch for the Associations help with their Health fair.DETAILS

This concluded the business on the Chefs meeting.

Mark Rubin offered tours of Second Harvest Facility to any interested.
